she’s come undone

first of all, i thought wally lamb did an amazing job writing in the voice of a woman. i was so quickly sucked in- it’s a phenomenal read! i can’t say enough about how much i enjoyed this book of self discovery, acceptance, life, and love. it was so beautifully written, i shook with laughter and tears. in reading this book you can’t help but love dolores price.

here’s a little bit i found profound and it also made me chuckle…

one evening i spoke out in class. i hadn’t meant to; those women just drew me in. “i think…” i said, “i think… the secret is to just settle for the shape your life takes.” My vice hesitated a little but i kept talking; everyone seemed interested. “instead of, you know, always waiting and wishing for what might make you happy.”

“what might make you happy?” my professor asked.

the rest of the class took over. “prince charming,” someone sighed.

“small thighs.”

“my boyfriend finding my g spot.”

allyson hooked her bare feet around the chair in front of her. “prince charming locating my g spot between my thin thighs.”

all around me, women laughed and nodded.

so to sum it all up, she’s come undone will not be a disappointment. it kind of forces you to look at the path, the journey of your life, to focus on your travels rather than a final destination. add it to your reading list, you’ll be glad you did!
